Aglianico

This ancient grape is thought to have been the most common variety consumed by the Romans and it's beginning to increase in popularity again. The grape produces deep, dark coloured wines that benefit from a long period of ripening, often reaching the extremes of November. It produces big wines, rich in tannin with intense plum, berry and even chocolate notes. Wine makers who refuse to accept how this grape wishes to be treated will often be left with unpleasant green tannins and a fiery acidity without any hint of the true potential of this grape.
