Cortese.

This grape is used for a number of appellations; Cortese dell'Alto Monferrato, Colli Tortonesi and Gavi di Gavi. The latter is without doubt the most famous of these three areas and known by most wine lovers worldwide. The secret lies in the grape itself. Commonly, people don’t associate Cortese with the appellations themselves. Pleasantly fragrant, with intense steely, mineral flavours it’s a grape for those who enjoy complexity. The lemon coloured, dry wines are normally unoaked, with a focus on retaining a fresh, crisp flavour. It’s the perfect accompaniment to fish and thrives when paired with foods that allow it to be fully expressive.
