Malvasia Fina

Used for Portugal's top fortified wines Madeira and white Port.

A very confused variety used in both of Portugal’s top fortified wine regions, the Douro Valley and Madeira. In Madeira, it is known as Boal and is widely planted. It is the second most planted white grape variety in the Douro Valley after Codega. It is rot prone but in good years is very high yielding. The best wines have a honeyed and oily character which suits the styles of wine that it produces
